Fruitland native Joe Martarano is certainly earning his frequent flyer miles this summer.
The Chicago Cubs promoted the former Boise State linebacker back to their Low-A affiliate in South Bend, Ind., on Friday, sending Martarano to the club for the second time this summer.
Martarano began his first season as a full-time professional baseball player with the Eugene Emeralds of the Northwest League. The Cubs promoted him to South Bend on July 1, sent him back to Eugene on July 8, then returned him to South Bend after three games in Eugene.
