As the college football rapidly approaches, it means one thing: watchlist season is upon us.
Boise State junior quarterback Brett Rypien and junior defensive lineman David Moa were named to the Maxwell and Bednarik Award watchlists, respectively, on Monday. The Maxwell is given to the nation’s top offensive player, and the Bednarik to the nation’s top defender.
Rypien’s 6,999 career passing yards are No. 9 among active Football Bowl Subdivision quarterbacks. He is one of 34 passers on the Maxwell watchlist. Moa, who led the Broncos with 8.5 sacks last season, is one of 12 defensive tackles on the Bednarik watchlist.
