Former Boise State safety Chanceller James had rookie minicamp tryouts lined up with the 49ers and Saints the first two weekends of May as he tried to make an NFL roster after being undrafted. Now, he has no need to worry about the second one.
The 49ers announced Monday they have signed three players out of 56 that were on a tryout basis in minicamp over the weekend, and James was one of them.
James (6-foot-2, 208 pounds) was the Broncos’ leader with three interceptions last season and added 80 tackles. He had a strong showing at Boise State’s pro day, running a 4.
