Of all the game plans Wisconsin's coaches could have designed, one they probably didn't anticipate was having a linebacker lead the team in rushing yards. That fact alone was indicative of the type of offensive day the Badgers experienced.
But when it mattered most, Wisconsin demonstrated resilience on the road to defeat Maryland 31-24 at Byrd Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Tailback Alec Ingold's 1-yard touchdown run broke a tie and gave Wisconsin a 24-17 lead with 5:17 remaining in the third quarter, and the Badgers held on from there.
Wisconsin quarterback Joel Stave passed for only 20 yards in the first half, but he rallied in a big way after halftime.
