Redshirt senior Tyler O’Connor feels pretty good about his chances to be the next starting quarterback at Michigan State in the early goings of a position battle that head coach Mark Dantonio says could stretch into September.
Dantonio acknowledged O’Connor as the front-runner to replace three-year starter Connor Cook at the start of spring practice, and that hasn’t changed in the two weeks since. Cook’s former backup says he has only grown more confident about being the guy under center in 2016.
“I feel very good about it,” he said after the Spartans’ sixth spring practice Tuesday evening.
