COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The running back who could do it all is gone at Ohio State.
And the only problem with spending two years counting on somebody to handle every single responsibility at the position is figuring out how many players might be needed to replace him.
Ideally the Buckeyes would only need one, with position coach Tony Alford finding a worthy, versatile heir for Ezekiel Elliott in spring practice and handing the gig over to the next in line on a full-time basis. But if reality and the workload simply proves to be too much for one tailback, Ohio State isn’t opposed to splitting up the job if that’s what it takes to at least ensure the production remains at the level the program has long been accustomed to in the backfield.
