LINCOLN, Neb. -- When Mike Riley made the gut-wrenching decision to leave his Pacific-Northwest home two years ago, he did so with visions of what played out Saturday at Memorial Stadium in one of those games and settings that has come to define college football.

It’s also the kind of win -- a thrilling, 35-32 comeback victory over No. 22 Oregon -- Riley thinks will define his second Nebraska team.

“We came here for a reason, to try and win a championship,” said the 63-year-old Riley, who spent 14 seasons at Oregon State. “My wife and I decided that we had time for one more great adventure, and it felt like good timing for me with what was going on at Oregon State, that it was finally, probably time.
