Michigan's defense outlasts Wisconsin in top-10 showdown

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Second chances are hard to come by, unless you’ve got a defense like Michigan’s.

The fourth-ranked Wolverines kept Wisconsin and gutsy redshirt freshman quarterback Alex Hornibrook (9-of-25, 88 yards passing) stagnant for almost all of a 60-minute staring contest at the Big House Saturday night. Finally, with eight minutes remaining, No. 4 Michigan cashed in on a 46-yard touchdown pass to Amara Darboh. It proved to be enough to sink the eighth-ranked Badgers 14-7.

Don Brown’s defense held out long enough to outlast a medley of penalties, three missed field goals and a Wisconsin pass rush that has already toppled two top 10 teams this year.
