Michigan State secondary shuffling takes toll on third downs

The Michigan State depth chart has seemingly included a couple new wrinkles in the secondary for every game this season. This week, as the Spartans prepare to host Maryland, former starting safety Montae Nicholson is back to “co-starter” status and wide receiver Monty Madaris has joined the two-deep at cornerback.

“We've used Monty there before,” head coach Mark Dantonio said. “Don't get him confused with Montae, like Coach Snydes does sometimes.”

"Coach Snydes" is first-year linebackers coach Mark Snyder, and his confusion is understandable given the amount of shuffling that’s gone on behind his group this season.
