Michigan State and Mark Dantonio need a quick fix. Unfortunately for quarterback Tyler O’Connor, he’s the easiest target.
Dantonio didn’t want a quarterback controversy. The Spartans went through that during their last dud of a season in 2012. He went out of his way to delay naming O’Connor as his starter as long as logic would allow in August. He said in plain English this week that he had no interest in creating turmoil at the position. But something had to change.
“At some point in time, you have to be productive,” Dantonio said after Saturday’s loss to BYU.
