Michigan State hits crossroads; now it's time to re-establish culture

The hallway between Michigan State's locker room and its indoor practice field is lined with uniforms the Spartans have worn in bowl games. They've hung nine of them in the last nine years, and for the first time in a while, they are in jeopardy of not adding to the collection.

A loss to Northwestern this past weekend dropped the Spartans to 2-4 and eliminated the last real margin of error for their postseason hopes. Head coach Mark Dantonio said a stroll down that hallway earlier this week provided a hard-to-swallow dose of reality. This is not a good team in a funk or on an unlucky streak.
