Michigan growth shows in its ability to take a punch

Very little went right for Michigan during the first quarter against Colorado on Saturday, the sloppiest 15 minutes the Wolverines have played since Jim Harbaugh arrived in Ann Arbor.

The Wolverines gave up 195 yards and two scores on defense and blew a protection scheme that ended in a battered Wilton Speight at quarterback and a fumble returned for a third score. Team captain Jake Butt called the rough start against the Buffaloes a wake-up call. Butt said a sub-par week of practice led to a poor performance to start the game. It was a reminder not to grow complacent after two blowouts to start the year.
