Iowa's Desmond King faces MSU, 'dream school' that snubbed him

When Michigan State Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio discussed Iowa at his weekly press conference, he mentioned Iowa Hawkeyes cornerback Desmond King as a player who got away. King should have been the typical Spartans’ defensive back -- an unheralded recruit turned star -- but now King is on the opposite side trying to hold the Spartans back from a Big Ten championship.

Hailing from Detroit, King’s dream school was Michigan State, but he wasn’t highly recruited despite turning out good sophomore and junior seasons. East English Village High School head coach Rod Oden said King had nine interceptions his sophomore season, and at least 11 in his junior year.
