Blocked FG return gives Penn State signature win, shakes up playoff race

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- James Franklin has often said he doesn't believe in signature wins.

Well, he might have to start.

Penn State fans rushed the field and jumped into players' arms while the team lingered after shocking No. 2 Ohio State -- and the country -- in a come-from-behind, 24-21 win in front of a national audience Saturday night.

It was Penn State’s first win over a top-2 team since a 1990 upset of No. 1 Notre Dame. And, while unranked, it was the Nittany Lions’ first top-2 win since 1964.

Franklin promised a return to national prominence on the first day he became the Lions’ head coach, back in January of 2014.
