Maybe by the weekend Bill Cubit can finally find some time to relax.
If the Illinois coach can wrap up all of his individual meetings with every player on the team, put the final touches on his recruiting plan, get his phone to stop ringing from coaches looking for a job and find a way to escape his office for a few minutes, Cubit might at last have a chance to catch his breath for the first time since taking over as interim coach just before the season started in August.
After all, his grandkids are coming to town Sunday and the Illini will be heading home for the holidays, so after months of working nonstop, Cubit has surely earned a chance to slow down for a day or two.
