Coming into the season, many were skeptical that Northwestern could repeat its success from last year, when the Wildcats won 10 games and finished No. 13 in the College Football Playoff rankings.
Yet even the biggest pessimist would have had a hard time envisioning the rough start by Pat Fitzgerald's team. Northwestern is 0-2 after losing at 22-21 to Western Michigan at home in the opener and, even more embarrassingly, falling 9-7 to FCS Illinois State last week.
So that begs the question: What's wrong with the Wildcats?
