Xavier vs. Providence 2016 final score: What we learned from the Musketeers’ victory over the Friars

The Xavier Musketeers and Providence Friars met in their respective Big East openers on Wednesday night. By game’s end, the two performances could not have contrasted each other anymore.

Xavier steamrolled Providence, maintaining their unbeaten record at home, and tacked on their first Big East win of the year by defeating the Friars 82-56. The win is the fourth in a row for the Musketeers over Ed Cooley’s bunch dating back to 2015 and marks the third Big East opener that Xavier has won in their four years in the conference.

The game was hardly close at times as Xavier muscled their way to a 24-9 lead at one point in the game.
