Despite a superior KenPom ranking, the Xavier Musketeers seemed a clear underdog in their Saturday duel against Butler. They hadn’t played in three weeks and they were on the road against a Butler team receiving reinforcements with Christian David returning from injury and Bo Hodges finally eligible. If the Musketeers were supposed to lose this game, they didn’t seem to be aware.
Xavier jumped out to ahead early behind Adam Kunkel, Paul Scruggs, and some tough defense, leading 29-14 with 8:27 left in the first half.
