NEW YORK – Jalen Brunson of Villanova and Shamorie Ponds of St. John’s, after leading their teams to 2-0 weeks to open league play, have earned BIG EAST Player of the Week and BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors, respectively.

Brunson averaged 20.0 points 5.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds, while guiding the Wildcats to a pair of wins. In an 80-70 victory at No. 10 Creighton, the sophomore scored a career-high 27 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field, which included 5-of-7 from 3-point range.
