Villanova Women Pull Away, Georgetown Men Lead After Day Two of #BIGEASTswim Championships

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The second day of the 2019 BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships presented by Jeep saw separation between teams in the overall standings. The Villanova women claimed the top spots in each event Thursday night as they seized a considerable lead with 378 points over second-place Georgetown at 227 points. The Hoyas are currently atop the men’s standings with 263 points, 27.5 points ahead of Villanova with 235.5 points.

The day began with the women’s 500 freestyle in which Wildcat Nicole Welch was victorious in a time of 4:49.63. Georgetown’s Cristina Barrett picked up second, clocking in just over a second later at 4:50.
