The BIG EAST men’s golf representatives at the NCAA Championship -- conference champion Connecticut and individual qualifiers Hunter Eichhorn of Marquette and Michael Cascino of Butler -- completed their play this week in the NCAA Regionals.
UConn finished in 12th place at the NCAA Kingston Springs Regional in Kingston, Tenn. Caleb Manuel, the BIG EAST Freshman of the Year, was the top Husky performer with a 2-over-par 215 (72-69-74). He tied for 28th place in the 75-player field. Junior Jared Nelson shot a 2-under 69 on the final day and finished with a 12-over 225 (79-77-69). The Huskies, led by BIG EAST Coach of the Year Dave Pezzino, were participating in the NCAAs for the first time in 22 years.
