For the first time in school history, Villanova holds the No. 1 spot in the national college basketball polls.
On Monday, the Wildcats were voted No. 1 in the Associated Press poll and the USA Today poll. It's the first time a BIG EAST team has risen to No. 1 in its current 10-team configuration.
Last year, the Wildcats made it to No. 2 in the polls of March 16.
Xavier moved up to fifth in the AP and fourth in the USA Today polls. Those rankings are also the highest for the Musketeers in school history.
