LYNCHBURG, VA. – The No. 1 seed Liberty Lady Flames added another BIG EAST field hockey title to their record book.
The Huskies (17-2, 7-0 BIG EAST) secured a 2-1 overtime win over No. 2 seed UConn (12-8, 5-2 BIG EAST) at Liberty Field Hockey Field in the BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship, presented by JEEP.
No. 7-ranked Liberty earns the BIG EAST’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. They will learn their tournament destination during the NCAA Championship selection show at 10 p.m. tonight on NCAA.com.
Liberty opened the scoring in the first quarter with a goal by Morena Giacosa at 14:36.
