Temple 74, Villanova 69
Villanova gave a valiant effort but came up just short in a 74-69 setback at Temple Tuesday evening. The Wildcats trailed 56-38 with 4:49 remaining in the third quarter before finishing the frame on a 13-4 run to make it a 60-51 game after three. VU cut the deficit to one with 20 seconds left before Temple connected on four free throws down the stretch to claim the victory. Mary Gedaka led the Wildcats (4-5) with a game-high 20 points to go with five assists and four steals. Junior Cameron Onken and freshman Maddy Siegrist both recorded double-doubles with 17 points and 10 rebounds apiece.
