STORRS, Conn. – UConn (22-18) softball clinched a spot in the BIG EAST Softball Championship game with a 4-1 victory over the Butler Bulldogs (17-20-1) Friday afternoon at Burrill Family Field.
Meghan O'Neil received the start in the circle and tossed 2.1 innings to face 12 Bulldog batters. She was relieved by Payton Kinney in the top of the third who struck out six against 20 Butler batters to pick up her 11th win of the year. .
Butler broke through on the scoreboard first and took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on a sac fly.
