Edmond Sumner tears ACL in left knee, out for the remainder of the 2016-17 season

The Xavier Musketeers will be without their star point guard for the remainder of the 2016-17 season. Redshirt sophomore Edmond Sumner was diagnosed with a torn ACL on Monday afternoon and has effectively been ruled out for the rest of the year.

Sumner had injured his left knee in the Musketeers’ matchup with the St. John’s Red Storm on Sunday night.

The Musketeers confirmed the news in the above release on GoXavier.com. Head coach Chris Mack expressed his devastation for Sumner in the release. The Xavier point guard will require surgery for the injury and the date of said surgery will be determined later.
