NEW YORK – After guiding their teams to victorious opening weekends, DePaul’s Nathan de Veer and Providence’s Risa Takenaka earn the season’s first BIG EAST Athlete of the Week honors.

De Veer went 4-0 overall this past weekend as DePaul took on Green Bay Friday and Detroit on Saturday. The senior won all his singles matches at No. 1, defeating Flo Kraenzler 7-5, 6-1 from Green Bay on Friday and Patryk Koscielski from Detroit 6-7 (9), 6-3, 11-9 on Saturday.
