Siegrist Earns National Honor
Villanova rookie and reigning BIG EAST Freshman of the Week Maddy Siegrist was recognized by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) on Tuesday as the organization's first-ever Tamika Catchings Freshman Player of the Week. Siegrist joins Ann Meyers Drysdale Women's National Player of the Week Aari McDonald out of Arizona as the USBWA’s women’s weekly honorees. Additionally, Seton Hall’s Myles Powell claimed the USBWA’s Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week certificate on the men’s side as the BIG EAST claimed two of the three national honors.
