MBB Minute – In a 3-1 Monday for BIG EAST teams, Seton Hall won a contest between coach and mentor, St. John’s and Xavier prevailed in games in the 90s that included harrowing finishes and Providence got off to a bad start in the Maui Invitational.
In a game that wasn’t scheduled until Saturday, Seton Hall defeated Iona 86-64 at the Prudential Center. Pirate coach Kevin Willard was going against his mentor, Iona coach Rick Pitino. The Hall used a 19-2 run midway in the second half to pull away for the win. Forward Jared Rhoden scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
