Skyler Howard needed to take a step backward before he could take a step forward.
After leading West Virginia to a 7-5 regular-season record in 2015, Howard used the holidays to take a look back at his first full campaign as Mountaineers starting quarterback.
“It really made me look at it from a different perspective,” he said. “Spending a week at home, I really came back and understood what I needed to do. I’d had 12 starts to build off of, take everything I learned in each one of those games and put it all together.
