Undefeated and unnoticed, WVU presses forward as schedule toughens

Who’s paying attention to West Virginia?

The Mountaineers are ranked No. 20 in the latest Associated Press poll. They’re 4-0 with a 10.4 percent chance to win the Big 12, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index.

WVU is led by senior quarterback Skyler Howard, who stacks up well statistically against the bigger names in the league. The team has an underrated group of offensive skill players and a defense that sits third in the Big 12 in points and yardage allowed a year after quietly ranking second in the same categories.

Yet you’ll hear hardly a word about West Virginia in a discussion on contenders.
