Trevone Boykin watched what should’ve been his grand TCU finale at home in Dallas with his mother and uncle. Mom wanted to turn the game off at halftime, when TCU trailed Oregon 31-0. He was not changing the channel.
Less than sixty hours after sitting in a jail in San Antonio, Boykin had to witness his team rally without him and confront what he’d cost himself. He’d authored a brutal final chapter to his fairy tale career as a Horned Frog.
“Being there would’ve meant a lot to me,” Boykin told ESPN.com. “To see that confetti coming down at the end of the game, it would’ve meant so much.
