TCU players learned a valuable lesson Saturday: Not all cupcakes are created equally.
TCU coach Gary Patterson learned that a long time ago. Back in 2001, TCU lost to Northwestern State in overtime in his first home game as head coach. He’s lived with a healthy respect for FCS opponents ever since.
His players should get it now after letting South Dakota State come into their home and attack their hyped-up defense for 41 points and a season-opening humbling.
“If they weren’t listening to me, they’re listening to me now,” Patterson said.
The Jackrabbits managed to put TCU on upset alert, turning two Kenny Hill interceptions into scores and a 17-7 lead in the second quarter.
