Sooners secondary secures spot among nation's best

Before Oklahoma made its first-ever visit to McLane Stadium, defensive coordinator Mike Stoops was candid as his defense prepared to face Baylor.

"If you don’t win any matchups, you’re in for a long night," he said last week.

One week later the Sooners secondary has cemented itself among the nation’s best after a 44-34 win against the two-time Big 12 champion. After finishing 2014 as one of the nation's worst pass defenses, Oklahoma leads the Big 12 in yards per pass attempt allowed (5.63, fifth among Power 5 teams) and yards per dropback allowed (4.47, third among Power 5 teams) in 2015.
