Texas Tech place-kicker Clayton Hatfield nailed a 37-yard field goal in the second overtime to give the Red Raiders a 27-24 win at TCU last week. The victory evened Tech’s record through eight games and aided its bid to reach a bowl game for the eighth time in nine seasons.
Hatfield made the winner after the Red Raiders blocked a 39-yard attempt by TCU’s Brandon Hatfield -- the kickers are unrelated -- on the first possession of the second overtime.
Clayton Hatfield, a sophomore from Boerne, Texas, has made 8 of 9 field-goal attempts this season and 22 of 25 over two seasons with a long of 51 yards last season in the first half of the Red Raiders' 48-45 win at Texas.
