NORMAN, Okla. — Dede Westbrook showed up to Oklahoma’s stadium Saturday donning the NFL jersey of the player few believed he could replace. Then, with former Sooners All-American and first-year New York Giants receiver Sterling Shepard watching from the sidelines, Westbrook delivered yet another dazzling display, capping an October for the Oklahoma ages in a month unmatched by any other receiver — and perhaps player — in college football this season.
“The dude’s a freak,” said quarterback Baker Mayfield, who suddenly is on pace to break the FBS record for passing efficiency thanks in large part to the emergence of Westbrook.
