Oklahoma State has options as it aims to replace Kevin Peterson

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Emmanuel Ogbah was the unquestioned star of Oklahoma State’s defense as he terrorized Big 12 quarterbacks en route to 13 sacks and Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Year honors a year ago.

Yet cornerback Kevin Peterson was just as vital to the Cowboys' defense as Oklahoma State surprised the nation with a 10-win start to the season. Replacing Ogbah has gotten plenty of attention this offseason, but filling Peterson’s spot in the lineup could determine how legitimate the Cowboys’ title push will become in 2016.

"Talent-wise, we definitely took a loss with that one, but I feel like we have guys who can step up and do what we have to do," said senior cornerback Ashton Lampkin, who came into the program alongside Peterson in 2012, but has seen injuries derail a promising career.
