Patrick Mahomes II playing backyard football and bouncing around the pocket before unleashing a game-changing throw was a common sight during his sophomore season at Texas Tech.
Mahomes seized his opportunity to start in 2015, becoming one of the Big 12's best quarterbacks. And he did it after splitting time the previous spring between the Red Raiders' baseball team and his football duties.
Yet a season that saw Mahomes lead the Big 12 -- and finish second nationally -- in total offense with 5,109 yards did not leave him satisfied. Instead, the junior headed into the offseason as hungry as ever, deciding to skip baseball to focus on football.
