When the student section descended onto the field Saturday night, to celebrate the first Kansas football victory in almost 22 months, coach David Beaty had one thought.
Please don’t take the goal posts.
That’s what the fans did last time. They ripped down the south goal post and tossed it into Potter Lake after the Jayhawks defeated a 2-7 Iowa State team in November of 2014. Beaty would have been genuinely disappointed if they had done it again Saturday, after his team had just stopped a 15-game losing streak with a 55-6 win against Rhode Island.
