Iowa State lost two of its top three receivers off last year's team, with only Allen Lazard returning for coach Matt Campbell's first season. Thus, the Cyclones will need some receivers to step up, and new receivers coach Bryan Gasser pointed to a former quarterback as a player who could help Iowa State's receiving corps in his Q&A session with Bobby LaGesse of the Ames Tribune.
Gasser singled out Darius Lee-Campbell as "maybe the surprise of all the receivers" after a solid spring. An ankle injury kept Lee-Campbell from participating in the spring game, but Gasser believes he has a chance to make an impact in the fall.
