The Bedlam rivalry between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State has recently lived up to its chaotic nickname on the field, where the past six meetings produced some of most unexpected finishes in college football. But on the recruiting trail, the rivalry has been anything but frenzied.
Even though Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are in a state that annually ranks in the top 10 for FBS signings per capita, the rivals rarely go head-to-head for prospects. As an Oklahoma State assistant said, “it’s actually been quite tame. Our recruiting battles have been more boring than bedlam.”
He’s right. Of the 34 in-state players Oklahoma and Oklahoma State signed since 2012 only 38 percent of them had an offer from the other in-state program.
