AUSTIN, Texas -- Sheroid Evans likes his shirts extended and cut up, his jeans carefully distressed. He gravitates toward that style as a fashion designer. With a sanding block and scissors, he produces clothing both aged and fresh.

Evans says his style is influenced by Kanye and inspired by his mother, whom he calls a fashionista. His college experience, one distressed and frayed by the unexpected, seems evident in these looks, too. The clothes fit the man.
