Oklahoma fans on Monday night at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome serenaded Auburn in the late stages of the Sooners’ 35-19 win in the Allstate Sugar Bowl with mocking chants of “S-E-C, S-E-C,” a final salvo in this season largely void of Big 12 accomplishments that resonated on a national stage.
That’s not to diminish 10 straight OU wins or the December trip to New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony earned by the Sooners’ Baker Mayfield and Dede Westbrook. Or, for that matter, the achievements of Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Bill Snyder’s continued wizardry and the masterful playmaking of Patrick Mahomes.
