DALLAS -- Embarrassment was the last emotion that Jesse Ertz ought to have experienced last fall in the moments after he suffered an ACL tear on the first play from scrimmage in Kansas State's season opener against South Dakota.
Ertz had just won the quarterback job at K-State as a sophomore. After a redshirt season and one year as a backup to Jake Waters, the former Iowa high school Gatorade Player of the Year was forced to wait through another fall on the sideline.
Disappointment. Disbelief. Anger. All understandable. But embarrassment?
“Honestly, yes,” Ertz said Tuesday at Big 12 media days.
