Here Are The 6 Best 2017 NFL Draft Prospects From The Big 12

The Big 12 has as much talent as any conference in the country, so it comes as no surprise that several of the top players eligible for the 2017 NFL Draft are from the conference. Here are the top six draft prospects from the Big 12:

6) Seth Russell, QB, Baylor

Russell isn't the most polished quarterback, but he has good size and athleticism to go along with excellent accuracy and arm strength. He passed for 2,104 yards with 29 touchdowns to just six interceptions in just seven games in his first year as a starter. There are questions about his ability to make the transition from Art Briles' spread offensive system, but all of the physical tools are there.

5) Josh Carraway, DE/OLB, TCU

Carraway is an intriguing prospect with elite size at 6'4" and 250 lbs, needs to bulk up to make the next level. He needs to work on his coverage skills if he's going to play outside linebacker, but he is still an extremely productive pass rusher, racking up 47 tackles with 11.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks last year.

4) Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma

Mayfield was a bona fide star during his first year with the Sooners, passing for 3,700 yards, 36 touchdowns, and seven interceptions to go along with 405 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. A quarterback of plays with incredible toughness, Mayfield has natural playmaking and leadership skills to go along with above average arm strength and accuracy. Size is a bit of an issue (6'2", 215 lbs), and he needs to develop more pocket presence.

3) Samaje Perine, RB, Oklahoma

The running back position has been largely devalued in the NFL game, but the 2017 class is absolutely loaded with Todd Gurley-like game-changers with as many as six backs expected to go in the first round. The 5'11", 237-pounder has rushed for over 3,000 yards and 37 touchdowns in his two seasons in Norman, and has the strength and size to be a dominant featured back in the NFL.

2) K.D. Cannon, WR, Baylor

Cannon isn't the most physical receiver in the country at just 6'1" and 175-pounds, but he might be the fastest player in the country and is a dynamic deep threat, averaging over 17.5 yards per catch in his career. He started showing a more developed route tree in 2015, turning him into a first-round prospect.

1) Charles Walker, DT, Oklahoma

If Walker builds on his impressive 2015 campaign, he's the kind of player who could turn into a a top 15 pick. He has good size at 6'2" and 300 pounds, and is more than just a run stopper with 36 tackles and six sacks.
