Freshman forward Lauren Piercy was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week Tuesday for the second time this season.
Piercy was on fire Sunday against Texas where she scored the game winner, beating the Longhorns 2-1.
This sets a record for the Bears, earning them a 5th weekly award. The Bears have been on a role this year. Since the program started in 1996, Baylor has earned 10 Newcomer of the Weeks honors.
“It’s not a team of individual superstars, it is a team,” said head coach Paul Jobson. “You can be down two players and still beat a top team.
