Ian McCaw named Liberty athletic director six months after resignation from Baylor for role in scandal

Liberty has named Ian McCaw its new athletic director, the school announced on Monday. McCaw served in the same position at Baylor from 2003-2016.

McCaw helped build Baylor into a national name in football. But he was sanctioned and placed on probation for the school for his role in the university's sexual assault scandal as head coach Art Briles was fired. McCaw resigned from Baylor in May on the same day that Baylor hired interim head football coach Jim Grobe.

Earlier in November, Baylor regents told the Dallas Morning News that McCaw and Briles were both informed about a gang rape involving Baylor football players but failed to report the allegations to Judicial Affairs, as required by federal Title IX rules.
