Former Baylor defensive coordinator Phil Bennett is stepping down as Arizona State's defensive coordinator following the Sun Devils Hyundai Sun Bowl appearance versus No. 24 North Carolina State on Dec. 29th.
The 62 year old Bennett is leaving the Sun Devils due to personal reasons, although new head coach Herm Edwards offered him a chance to stay.
"He offered me a job," Bennett said. "He was very gracious. He's a good man. You're going to see that. Football guy. I loved my conversations with him. I told I just wish it was at another time in my life and unfortunately it's not.
