IRVING -- Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby chose his words carefully when asked about Mount Vernon's hire of Art Briles last week.
"I don't presume to know any of the details about it," Bowlsby said Friday at the end of Big 12 spring meetings. "I was surprised when I heard that was going to happen. It will be interesting to see how it plays itself out."
Briles was fired at Baylor in 2016 firing an internal investigation into how the school and the football program handled sexual assaults.
Baylor President Linda Livingstone briefed the Big 12 board of directors Friday at the school's progress as well as the status of investigations involving the NCAA, Title IX and the Texas Rangers.
