#17 Iowa State (5-2, 5-1) has themselves in a really nice spot when it comes to the Big 12 championship race. The Cyclones’ only loss was to Oklahoma State and their toughest remaining game is against Texas. Nevertheless, the Cyclones absolutely must beat Kansas State (4-3, 4-2) to remain in the driver’s seat for a championship berth. Kansas State looked like they were going to make a play for the top of the Big 12 until quarterback Skylar Thompson was knocked out for the season with an injury. Will Howard has been nowhere near as efficient, throwing five touchdowns and five interceptions and carrying a nearly 40 points weaker QB rating in comparison to Thompson.
